Glenelg

So today was one of the first warm days we’ve had in a week and a half or so – it’s been so cold! (which is a relative term, I know some of y’all out there are still buried in snow…you’d probably slap me across the face if you were to hear that cold for us over here is the low 60s Fahrenheit…oops, did I just say that?).  Anyways, needless to say, after about a week of rain and a week and a half of “cold weather,” we finally got a warm 80 degree day; so I took the liberty to bring myself to the beach.

Beach

Glenelg (the beach) is about a 15 minute tram ride from Victoria’s Square.  After riding past the suburbs and then through the little beach town called Glenelg, the tram literally deposits you on the beach.  There’s a square with a large monument and some grass around it leading right down to the pier and the sand.  The waves are small but the water is crystal clear turquoise blue.  Cold, though, and very shallow – you can walk out almost 60m and the water will still be mid-thigh high.  The sand is like any you’d find at the OBX – plain ole white sand, nothing too special.  But it’s a great little place to be able to go.

Not a lot of pictures, and they’re not that great – clearly my mind was on soaking up some rays but here’s a few pics!
